Belts & Hoses
Timing belts and serpentine belts are the most common types of belts in trucks.
A timing belt (also referred to as the camshaft drive belt or the Gilmer belt) is a notched belt that allows the crankshaft to turn the camshaft. Failure of the timing belt would lead to failure of the engine. A loose timing belt could lead to its slipping. When slipped, valves will open at the wrong time putting them at the risk of being struck by the pistons. To avoid this, have your timing belts inspected and serviced regularly.
A drive belt transfers power from the engine to the front mounted accessories such as the cooling fan, power steering pump, air injection pump, the air conditioning compressor and more. Failure of the drive belt means that all the engine accessories it's powering will stop working leading to overheating of the engine. To prevent this from happening, have the belt regularly checked for wear, cracks and stripping.
Hoses (or coolant hoses) are the heater and radiator hoses (upper and lower). The hoses facilitate the flow of coolant between the radiator, engine, and heating block. Old and worn out hoses can easily burst resulting in an overheated engine. To prevent this from happening, have the hoses inspected for cracks.
For belts and hoses maintenance and replacement services, visit LTM Auto Truck & Trailer in Pontiac, MI 48340 today. Remember, working belts and hoses will lead to a properly working engine.
Although a truck's engine operates most efficiently at high temperatures, the surplus heat produced during combustion can damage engine parts. To keep the engine safe from the surplus heat, trucks come with a cooling system. The system helps the engine maintain the required temperature and release any surplus heat to the environment.
The cooling system is made up of various parts that work harmoniously. These parts are the radiator, fan, pump, pressure cap, hoses, thermostat, and overflow tank. Failure of any of the parts will result in a poorly functioning cooling system.
To have a properly working cooling system (and thus a healthy engine), consider having periodic servicing of the parts that make up the system. At LTM Auto Truck & Trailer, we can service or replace (if necessary) radiators, fans, water pumps, hoses, thermostats and pressure caps.
Although diesel engines don't require tune-ups and tend to last longer than gasoline engines, they do require regular maintenance. Typical maintenance tasks include:
This is where your truck's combustion of fuel occurs. The ignition, which takes place in a combustion chamber, provides force to the pistons, turbine blades, or a nozzle. The engine provides power that drives your truck. With a poorly operating engine, you will have a poor performing truck. Visit LTM Auto Truck & Trailer in Pontiac, MI 48340 today, to have all your engine needs addressed. At LTM Auto Truck & Trailer, we have engine specialists who will make sure you get the most from your truck's engine.
An exhaust system is a piping that directs exhaust gases away from the internal combustion engine to the outdoors. A truck's exhaust system is made up of one or more exhaust pipes. An exhaust system can be modified to increase engine power (and performance), reduce pollution, or reduce noise. Also, a properly operating exhaust system is required for operator safety.
To get the most from your truck, you need regular exhaust service. For exhaust repairs, exhaust modification, or exhaust replacement, call 248-333-3772 or visit LTM Auto Truck & Trailer today.
A water pump is a vital part of your truck cooling system. A water pump is a centrifugal pump that circulates fluid whenever the engine is running. A belt connected to the engine's crankshaft drives the pump. Water pumps have vanes that fling the fluid to the outside of the pump (using centrifugal force) where it can enter the internal combustion engine. After going through the engine and the cylinder head, the fluid flows back to the water pump.
If the water pump develops a leak or the hub becomes loose and noisy, you need to have it replaced. Faulty water pumps will lead to poor cooling of the internal combustion engine. To have faulty water pumps repaired or replaced, call 248-333-3772 or visit LTM Auto Truck & Trailer today.
Amazing service, amazing staff, and amazing pricing, the only shop that would touch my car besides the dealership. They figured out the electrical issue and fixed it in less then an hour and then showed me how to fix it if it happened again. I am now a life long customer and will refer every person who asks me where they should take their care to get fixed.
I wouldn?t go anywhere else! I?ve been a customer for years. Honest, hardworking people there. Great service every time. Even over at their Quick Lube location in Auburn Hills.
I always enjoy bringing my van here for service. They take good care of it and take me home to wait if needed and pick me up when van is ready. All employees are very pleasant, there are snacks and coffee and tv if you are waiting.
Had i front break hang up & was cherry red they found the part & repaired the brakes & got me on my way for a decent price! It was a motorhome & the dealers wouldn't touch it! Hope i don't have to use them again but if you do you will be HAPPY!

Awesome staff, great price, and they knew their stuff, look forward to doing more business with them
I dropped off my motor home for what I thought was a simple exhaust leak problem. It turned out to be much more complicated than we thought. The technician agreed to stay late that night to get it fixed so I could leave on a planned cross-country trip. I was very pleased with their service.
Always good to know I can trust the people that work on my vehicle. I have been to other shops and drug through the mud of it needs this and that. LTM was honest with what needed to be fixed and what could wait. Their free inspection showed me all angles of the car and what I couldn't see. Very impressed, I will be back next time I need repairs.
Found out I didn't need a new car!! Old Betsy is all fixed up! Thanks LTM, I will be back!
